AutoDigitizing Part Two, Continued
by Walter Floriani
The actual applique
creation steps can be as simple as a few clicks of the mouse, when utilizing the
pre-created shapes or done in a more traditional manner yet extremely simplified
with the applique digitizing tool, or when utilizing aspects of both auto
digitizing and the applique function you give yourself the ability to create a
beautiful app with nice traditional stitching intermingled. The steps include
importing your artwork, if traditional digitizing. Sizing correctly, outlining
your shape with the applique digitizing tool. Selecting your stitch type to
border your creation and your done. A very important point here is then
utilizing the Save 2 Sew feature, You will want to adjust the density for
different material types but turn of the underlay. You can leave the pull comp
selected. You do not want to alter the underlay on an app as it is important to
the outcome.
AutoDigitizing with
Applique III is really a full intensive automated system; it is extremely easy
to learn, works well with simpler designs with minimal manipulations, at it
certainly will do more intense designs but there must be a realization that a
good amount of editing will need to take place. The software is intense as you
want to take it. I'd like to explore this a little further.
One of the things I have
loved about software in general is that it many times it does more than you or
it think it can do. I have always enjoyed trying to manipulate software and
trick it into doing what I want it to do. I was brought up this way. My Father
viewed this as Play Time and I always followed the formula. In my digitizing
house we used to "Make a little time to Take a little time to Play". We stretched
the limits of the equipment we worked with and many times can up with some
pretty interesting and beneficial or time savings techniques.
Floriani software
is great for this, I love this aspect of it. The software is strong and does
indeed do things when you apply some simple creative thought and understand what
the software will do. There is also an aspect of education that is important but
I truly believe that this video driven response methodology, where we attempt to
bring the answer of a software technical question to you with a visually hands
on approach is so key to your software success. It has always seemed to me that
you all know what it is you want to do, just how the heck does the software do
it. I and we as a company understand this. I have been an embroiderer all my
life. I've run machinery and digitized on more software than
most and I know what I always wanted. Software that did want I want it to do and
someone to show me how to make it do it. This is indeed our approach to our
software. A strong product with, what I believe, almost unlimited amount of
control and an approach to education that brings you that, "sat next to"
feeling.
I
truly love this stuff, enjoy the video.

and Stitches to You All,
