In the Quick Start for SmartSizer Pro III, you will load a Hunter.mgl embroidery design. Remove the hunter from the design and merge wolf.pes in the hunters place. By the time you have finished this lesson you should have a good working knowledge on how SmartSizer Pro III works.
1. Go to the drop down menu File and click on Open.

2. Select design SSP-QS-01-Hunter.mgl and click on Open.

3. Click on the Hoop Icon.

4. Select “Babylock – Brother (Pes) 100 x 100 and click on OK.

5. Looking at the tree view, notice there are 11 color changes in this design. We will be going through each color, to find out what part of the design contains the hunter. Also notice that there is an “EYE” beside each one of the color changes. We will be clicking the left mouse button on each “EYE” (turning them on and off) to see how that color affects the design.

6. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 1’s eye. Notice that part of the ground disappears. Leave the eye in the OFF position, hiding that part of the ground.

7. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 2’s eye. Notice that a second part of the ground disappears. Leave the eye in the OFF position, hiding that part of the ground.

8. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 3’s eye. Notice that the hunter’s pants disappeared. Click on the eye again placing the eye in the ON position, showing the hunter’s pants.

9. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 4’s eye. Notice that the hunter’s gun and hair disappeared. Click on the eye again placing the eye in the ON position, showing the hunter’s gun and hair.

10. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 5’s eye. Notice that the hunter’s face and hands disappeared. Click on the eye again placing the eye in the ON position, showing the hunter’s face and hands.

11. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 6’s eye. Notice that the hunter’s hat disappeared. Click on the eye again placing the eye in the ON position, showing the hunter’s hat.

12. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 7’s eye. Notice that the hunter’s shirt disappeared. Click on the eye again placing the eye in the ON position, showing the hunter’s shirt.

13. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 8’s eye. Notice that the hunter’s vest disappeared. Click on the eye again placing the eye in the ON position, showing the hunter’s vest.

14. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 9’s eye. Notice that the hunter’s outline disappeared. Click on the eye again placing the eye in the ON position, showing the hunter’s outline.

15. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 10’s eye. Notice that a third part of the ground disappears. Leave the eye in the OFF position, hiding that part of the ground.

16. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 11’s eye. Notice that a forth part of the ground disappears. Leave the eye in the OFF position, hiding that part of the ground.

17. Only the hunter should be showing at this point. Move your mouse to the top left side of the hunter.

18. With your left mouse button click and hold and drag the mouse to the bottom right of the hunter.

19. Let go of the left mouse button. You should see a box appear around the hunter and color 3 through 9 highlighting in the tree view.

20. Click the Right mouse button in the center of the hunter and select “Delete”. The Hunter has been removed from the design.

21. Going to the tree view, click the left mouse button on color 1, 2, 10, and 11’s eye. placing the eye in the ON position.

22. Go to the drop down menu File and click on Merge.

23. Select design SSP-QS-01-wolf.pes and click on Open.

24. Click the right mouse button on “Group”, this will group all the objects together that make up the wolf.

25. Click the right mouse button on “Transform”.

26. Click on Flip Horizontal.

27. Click on Apply.

28. Click on and hold down the left mouse button on the “Black Square” at the top left corner of the wolf.

29. Drag the mouse down until your wolf is approximately 41 mm x 50 mm.

Look at the bottom left of the screen when using the Sizing Tool. It shows the height and width of your design changing.

30. Click on and hold the left mouse button in the center of the wolf and position it where the hunter was.

31. Once this is done, go to the drop down menu FILE and click on “Save As”.

32. Save your design on your hard drive as an C2S file.

It is very important to save your design in this format just in case you wish to come back and edit something later. After it’s saved in C2S, then go back to Save As and save it in whatever format your sewing machine uses.
