Quick Start Lesson X - Cross Stitch Basic

In the Quick Start X for Digitizing Pro III, we will go through the functionality of how to use the Cross Stitch in standard mode. By the time you have finished this lesson you should have  a good working knowledge on how to use this function.


The Cross Stitch Tool is used to create solid areas of fill stitch in a cross stitch pattern,  with or without voided areas .


1. Go to the drop down menu File and click on NEW.



2. Select the "Backdrop Tool" using the left mouse button.



3. Select DigP-QS-08a-cross-stitchfill_ curvebox.jpg using the left mouse button.

4. Click on Open using the left mouse button. 5. Go to Zoom and select To Fit with your left mouse button.

6. Click on Cross Stitch with your left mouse button.



7. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 1.



8. Hold Down the Control key and click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 2.




Holding down the Control key gives you the ability to create curved lines.


9. Hold Down the Control key and click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 3.  


10. Hold Down the Control key and click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 4.



11. Hold Down the Control key and click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 5.  



12. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 6.




13. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 7.



14. Hold Down the Control key and click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 8.



15. Hold Down the Control key and click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 9.



16. Hold Down the Control key and click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 10.



17. Hold Down the Control key and click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 11.



18. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 12.



19. Click the right mouse button on the purple dot number 13.



20. Click the left mouse button on the Backdrop” icon to turn off the backdrop.



21. You have just digitized your first Cross Stitch.




The next 6 steps are for reference only. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with all the properties you can control with the functions described above.


22. Click on the + to expand the object within the first color using the left mouse button.  



23. Click on the Complex Fill object using the left mouse button.



24. Click on the Properties icon with your left mouse button.



25. Looking at the properties, you can control each objects attributes within the design.



Cross Stitch properties


You can set the:

A. Size

B. Overlap (pt)

C. Repeats FigureDigP-281


26. Commands properties



You can set the:


A. Color

B. Start command:

       1. Normal (will sew).

       2. Jump (travel stitch).

       3. Trim (force trim at start).

       4. Stop (color change at start).

       5. Frame out (move the pantograph to the top middle point at start).

C. End command:

       1. Normal (will sew).

       2. Jump (travel stitch).

       3. Trim (force trim at start).

       4. Stop (color change at start).

       5. Frame out (move the pantograph to the top middle point at start).

D. Tie in:

       1. None (No lock down stitch).

       2. Basic (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and will                     appear to sew back and forth in a straight line).

       3. Triangular (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and                     will appear to sew back and forth in a triangular patterns).

E. Tie off:

       1. None (No lock down stitch).

       2. Basic (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and will                     appear to sew back and forth in a straight line).

       3. Triangular (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and                     will appear to sew back and forth in a triangular patterns).


27. Transform properties



You can set the:


A. Width (mm) (Size the object by measurement or percentage).

B. Height (mm) (Size the object by measurement or percentage).

C. Maintain aspect ratio (Changing the Width or Height, with this checked on, it will keep the objects aspect ratio perfect).

D. Regenerate stitches (When editing the object, the object will always regenerate new stitches when checked).

E. Rotate (Rotate object by degrees).

F. Flip horizontal (Will flip the object horizontally).

       G. Flip vertical (Will flip the object vertically).
