Quick Start Lesson - VIII. Complex Fill with Voids (Advanced)

In the Quick Start VIII for Digitizing Pro III, we will go through the functionality of how to use the Complex Fill in advanced mode. By the time you have finished this lesson you should have a good working knowledge on how to use this function.


The “Complex Fill Tool” can create shapes with voided areas. This is useful when you have multiple layers of objects and do not wish for multiple layers of stitching or for a single layer that has no stitching in one or more areas .


1. Go to the drop down menu File and click on NEW. 



2. Select the "Backdrop Tool" using the left mouse button.



3. Select DigP-QS-06-fill_holebox.jpg using the left mouse button.

4. Click on “Open” using the left mouse button.



5. Go to “Zoom” and select “To Fit” with your left mouse button.



6. Click on “Complex Fill” with your left mouse button.


7. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 1.



8. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 2.



9. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 3.



10. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 4.



11. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 5.



12. Press the “H” key on your keyboard.




Pressing the “H” key allows you to place holes within the complex fill.


13. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 7.


       


14. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 8.C



15. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 9.



16. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 10.



17. Press the “H” key on your keyboard.



18. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 12.



19. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 13.



20. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 14.



21. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 15.



22. Press the “H” key on your keyboard.



23. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 17.



24. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 18.



25. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 19.



26. Click the left mouse button on the blue dot number 20.



27. Click the right mouse button on the purple dot number 21.



28. Click and hold the left mouse button on the orange dot number 22.



29. You have just digitized your first Complex Fill with voids.



30. Click the left mouse button on the green dot number 24.



31. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 25.



32. Click the left mouse button on the “Backdrop” icon to turn off the backdrop.



33. While still holding down the left mouse button, move the mouse to the dark purple dot number 23 and release the left mouse button.

34. Click on the “+” to expand the object within the first color using the left mouse button.



35. Click on the “Complex Fill” object using the left mouse button.



36. Click on the “Properties” icon with your left mouse button.



37. Looking at the properties, you can control each objects attributes within the design.



Fill properties


You can set the:

A. Fill Type:

       1. Standard

       2. Emboss

       3. Motif

B. Pattern

C. Stitch Length (mm)

D. Density (pt)


38. Underlay properties



You can set the:


A. Type of underlay: Contour, Perpendicular, Lattice, and Full Lattice.

B. Density (pt)

C. Stitch length (mm)

D. Inset (mm)

E. Zig-Zag inset (mm)


39. Pull comp. properties



You can set the:


A. Type:

       1. None

       2. Percentage

       3. Absolute

       B. Value%

       C. Max Range (mm)

       D. Absolute value (pt)


40. General properties



You can set the:


A. Connection End:

       1. Sharp

       2. Zig-Zag

       3. Chiseled

       4. Square

B. Chisel distance (mm)

C. Overlap lines

D. Gradient fill:

       1. None

       2. Linear increasing

       3. Linear decreasing

       4. Convex

       5. Concave

       E. Max density (pt)

       F. Auto density

       G. Short stitches


41. Commands properties



You can set the:


A. Color

B. Start command:

       1. Normal (will sew).

       2. Jump (travel stitch).

       3. Trim (force trim at start).

       4. Stop (color change at start).

       5. Frame out (move the pantograph to the top middle point at start).

C. End command:

       1. Normal (will sew).

       2. Jump (travel stitch).

       3. Trim (force trim at start).

       4. Stop (color change at start).

       5. Frame out (move the pantograph to the top middle point at start).

D. Tie in:

       1. None (No lock down stitch).

       2. Basic (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and will appear to sew back             and forth in a straight line).

       3. Triangular (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and will appear to sew            back and forth in a triangular patterns).

E. Tie off:

       1. None (No lock down stitch).

       2. Basic (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and will appear to sew back             and forth in a straight line).

       3. Triangular (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and will appear to sew             back and forth in a triangular patterns).


42. Transform properties



You can set the:


A. Width (mm) (Size the object by measurement or percentage).

B. Height (mm) (Size the object by measurement or percentage).

C. Maintain aspect ratio (Changing the Width or Height, with this checked on, it will keep the objects aspect

ratio perfect).

D. Regenerate stitches (When editing the object, the object will always regenerate new stitches when checked).

E. Rotate (Rotate object by degrees).

F. Flip horizontal (Will flip the object horizontally).

G. Flip vertical (Will flip the object vertically).
