Learning the Program


The best way to see all of the possibilities is to perform the steps in the Quick Start lessons. Upon completing the Quick Start lessons, you will have used all of the functions of the program and can start creating on your own designs. In the process of going through the Quick Start, if you find you want to know more about the individual features used, refer back to the "Reference" section of this manual. Each feature is in alphabetical order and can be easily found. 

You will find several other Quick Start lessons. Other features may be turned on or off, depending on the different plug-in's purchased for this platform. In this Lesson, we will only use the functions that are included with AutoDigitizing with Appliqué III.  


Please NOTE: In some cases the different products share features. In the case of AutoDigitizing with Appliqué III you will find the same features and abilities in the products below. Please read and follow the Quick Start Lessons to take full advantage of your purchase.

The following lesson utilizes a Windows XP operating system, screen resolution set to 1024 x 768 pixels and a color quality of "Highest (32-bit)". It is not necessary to have your computer setup in the same way we created these lessons. You might find it easier to follow the lesson and the screen shots knowing how our Windows XP is setup.


Quick Start I (Auto Digitize a Butterfly)

In the Quick Start for AutoDigitizing with Appliqué III, you will load an image of a butterfly and convert it to embroidery. By the time you have finished this lesson you should have a good working knowledge on how AutoDigitizing with Appliqué III works.

So lets get started and have some fun..... !



1. Go to the drop down menu File and click on NEW. (Figure ADIG-01)

2. Click on the Hoop Icon. (Figure ADIG-02)

3. Select "Babylock _ Brother (Pes) 100 x 100 and click on OK. (Figure ADIG-03)

4. Click on the Auto Digitizing Icon.  (Figure ADIG-04)

In the first screen of the wizard, you select what image you wish to use and what type of stitching you want your design to have.



5. Click on the Browse button. (Figure ADIG-05)

6. Click on ADig-QS-01-Butterfly.wmf using the left mouse button and click on "Open". (Figure ADIG-06)

7. Select Auto. (Figure ADIG-07)

In the Transformation screen you can select portions of the image, size, rotate or flip.



9. In the "Set Image Size", change the width to 90mm. Notice that the height changes automatically to keep the image proportional. (Figure ADIG-09)

In the Reduction screen you can reduce colors, edit the image with your favorite art package or finalize the auto digitizing.



11. Click on Finish, and your design is done. (Figure ADIG-10)

12. Move your design to the center of your hoop if needed. (Figure ADIG-11)

13. Once this is done, go to the drop down menu FILE and click on "Save As". (Figure ADIG-12)

14. Save your design on your hard drive as an C2S file.

It is very important to save your design in this format, in case you wish to edit something later. After it's saved in C2S, then go back to "Save As" and save it in whatever format your sewing machine uses.
