In the Quick Start I for Digitizing Pro III, we will go through the functionality of how to use the manual stitch. By the time you have finished this lesson you should have a good working knowledge on how to use this function. The Manual Tool is used to create stitch penetrations at exact locations . Unlike a run stitch, a manual stitch only inserts needle penetrations at the locations you left click while using the tool. Some examples of when to use a manual stitch would be:
1. Creating your own lock stitches.
2. Random detail work.
3. Very small, intricate stitching.
1. Go to the drop down menu File and click on NEW.

2. Select “Backdrop Tool” using the left mouse button.

3. Select DigP-QS-01-Manual.jpg using the left mouse button.

4. Click on “Open” using the left mouse button.

5. Click on “Zoom” and select “To Fit” with your left mouse button.

6. Click on “Manual” with your left mouse button.

7. Click the left mouse button on the green square number 1.

8. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 2.

9. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 3.

10. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 4.

11. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 5.

12. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 6.

13. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 7.

14. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 8.

15. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 9.

16. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 10.

17. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 11.

18. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 12.

19. Click the left mouse button on the red dot number 14.

20. Click the left mouse button on the green square number 15.

21. Click the right mouse button to end the manual object.

22. Click the left mouse button on the “Backdrop” icon to turn off the backdrop.

23. You have just digitized your first manual stitch.


The next 6 steps are for reference only. We do encourage you to familiarize yourself with all the properties
you can control with the functions described above.
24. Click on the “+” to expand the object within the first color using the left mouse button.

25. Click on the “manual” object using the left mouse button.

26. Click on the “Properties” icon with your left mouse button.

27. Looking at the properties, you can control each objects attributes within the design.

Commands properties (Figure DigP-27)
You can set the:
A. Color
B. Start command:
1. Normal (will sew).
2. Jump (travel stitch).
3. Trim (force trim at start).
4. Stop (color change at start).
5. Frame out (move the pantograph to the top middle point at start).
C. End command:
1. Normal (will sew).
2. Jump (travel stitch).
3. Trim (force trim at start).
4. Stop (color change at start).
5. Frame out (move the pantograph to the top middle point at start).
D. Tie in:
1. None (No lock down stitch).
2. Basic (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and will appear to sew back and forth in a straight line).
3. Triangular (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and will appear to sew back and forth in a triangular patterns).
E. Tie off:
1. None (No lock down stitch).
2. Basic (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and will appear to sew back and forth in a straight line).
3. Triangular (The lock down stitch will be added to the beginning of the object and will appear to sew back and forth in a triangular patterns).
28. Transform properties

You can set the:
A. Width (mm) (Size the object by measurement or percentage).
B. Height (mm) (Size the object by measurement or percentage).
C. Maintain aspect ratio (Changing the Width or Height, with this checked on, it will keep the objects aspect ratio perfect).
D. Regenerate stitches (When editing the object, the object will always regenerate new stitches when checked).
E. Rotate (Rotate object by degrees).
F. Flip horizontal (Will flip the object horizontally).
G. Flip vertical (Will flip the object vertically).
